Nutrition for the Senior Lesson Horse

This session breaks the complex subject of nutrition into a simplistic way of looking at addressing the nutritional needs of our horses. It particularly emphasizes what to look for in the senior lesson horse keeping in mind the variety of feeding situations a Herd Manager may find themselves in any equine program.

Dr. Tanja Hess aims to help educate equestrians in feeding and caring for horses to help maximize their health, longevity, and overall quality of life. Dr. Hess has a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Federal Fluminense University, Brazil, a Master of Science in Equine Clinics from Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and a PhD in Equine Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Hess brings her over 15 years of working in veterinary medicine and equine nutrition research, to impart practical information to better care for our senior equine partners.
