Feeding the Hard Working School Horse

The heart of any lesson program is the school horse. They put in their time day in and day out and we need to feed them appropriately to allow them to do their job. This presentation will be looking at the different requirements due to workload and how to use available feedstuffs to meet those needs.

Dr. Bob Coleman has had a lifelong interest in horses. He is a CHA Executive Board member and a CHA Site Visitor Trainer.  His education includes degrees in Agriculture, Animal Science, and Equine Nutrition and worked as a nutritionist for major feed companies and served as the Alberta Agriculture Extension Horse Specialist. Involvement with another organization includes: Chairman of the AQHF research committee, Kentucky Quarter Horse Association executive committee, Equine Science Society executive director, American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists member, American Society of Animal Scientists member, and American College of Animal Science diplomat. He is presently the Equine Extension Specialist at the University of Kentucky and teaches Equine Science and Management.  Bob strives to develop sound equine management practices to educate and equip horse owners and barn managers in the care of their herds.
